About us
"Desert Queen" - The Challenge
"Desert Queen" is a jeep expedition exclusively for women, which to date has taken place in some of the most exotic and challenging landscapes in the world. It combines a competitive outdoor adventure & 4WD driving expedition with personal development. The participants are put to the test as individuals – and not less important – as a team.
Each expedition is based on a 4x4 jeep convoy in which the female team members navigate the jeep in challenging terrain. Desert Queen also includes teamwork, hiking, GPS orientation, and more. The expedition is led by an appointed tour guide, is supported by a logistical support team, and a full-time medical doctor.
In 2008, in honor of the 60th celebration of independence, the Jewish Agency's Partnership 2000 joined one of Israel's most innovative and challenging programs for women – Geographical Tours "Desert Queen" Annual Jeep Expedition.
This was an exciting and unique way to bring together women from Israel and from across the world in what has proven to be an experience of a lifetime of empowerment and self-fulfillment.
The 10th Expedition - 2008
"Desert Queen 60x60" was the 10th annual expedition.
In 1999, the first expedition took place in Israel & Jordan, bringing a message of peace. In subsequent years, Desert Queen took place in Turkey, Ethiopia, Georgia, Thailand & India, each expedition including 50-60 participants. In 2005, Desert Queen was adapted to meet the great demand of the hundreds of Israeli women who wanted to participate in the project: 12 expeditions, including 576 women, went to the Carpathian Mountains in Romania. The winning teams were granted the prize of participating in the expedition to Morocco the following year. Next, 12 expeditions were challenged in the Pyrenees Mountains in the north of Spain, and the year after - 12 more expeditions landed in Zululand, South Africa.
Following the big success of the 10th expedition in Israel, we decided to repeat it annually, on a regular basis.
We are looking forward to see you on one of our next trips!
